From a small village in Tuscany to the heart of Somerset

Bella Cucina was born from a simple dream: to bring the authentic flavours and warm hospitality of Italy to the English countryside. Founded in 2015 by Chef Marco Rossi, our restaurant has become a beloved destination for those seeking genuine Italian cuisine.

Chef Marco's Journey

Marco grew up in a small village near Florence, where food was more than sustenance—it was a celebration of family, tradition, and love. His grandmother's kitchen was his first classroom, where he learned the art of handmade pasta, the importance of fresh ingredients, and the joy of sharing a meal with loved ones.

After training at the prestigious Culinary Institute of Florence and working in Michelin-starred restaurants across Italy, Marco moved to England in 2010. He missed the flavours of home, so he began cooking for friends and family, quickly earning a reputation for his authentic dishes and generous spirit.

In 2015, with the support of his wife Sarah and their three children, Marco opened Bella Cucina in a converted 18th-century coaching inn. The restaurant's name, meaning "beautiful kitchen," reflects Marco's philosophy: that great food begins with a beautiful kitchen filled with fresh ingredients and prepared with care.

Our Philosophy

At Bella Cucina, we believe that authentic Italian cuisine is about more than just recipes—it's about respect for ingredients, tradition, and the people who share the meal. That's why we:

• Import key ingredients directly from Italy, including olive oil, pasta, and cured meats
• Source fresh produce from local Somerset farms and suppliers
• Make our pasta fresh daily using traditional techniques
• Offer an extensive wine list featuring both Italian classics and local English wines
• Cater to all dietary requirements with the same care and attention

Our Team

Marco is joined by a dedicated team of chefs, servers, and hospitality professionals who share his passion for Italian cuisine. Many of our team members have trained in Italy or have worked with Marco for years, ensuring that every dish that leaves our kitchen meets his exacting standards.
